I purchased a new computer and I want to install Manjaro plasma in a dual boot mode. I am unable to download Manjaro directly from the Majaro site ( Download x86 – Manjaro ) because it is very slow, more than one hour and many download interruptions. Tried several times to download the iso from your website, but without any success !
Any suggestions ?
How are you downloading? Via a browser? I find Vivaldi generally reliable:
sudo pacman -S vivaldi
Otherwise, as suggested, Torrent is a valid choice. Due to the nature of the bittorrent protocol, it’s one of the most reliable download methods available, but it’s not necessarily fast.
As for how long it takes to download, generally, I’m afraid there’s very little we can do about that.
I am not at all familiar with Torrent. Could you provide me with a link so that I can do a simple click to download the ISO file for Manjaro Plasma? I am a Newby at this. Thanks for your help
I tried using Vivaldi ( on Windows) to download Manjaro and I get the same problem. the download process starts but it terminates after 50mb of download.
Then, you don’t have a Manjaro instance installed yet, I’m guessing. Without knowing your system, I’m afraid there’s not much I can suggest from the Windows perspective.
Perhaps create a Ventoy USB (Windows or Linux) and then download the ISO on someone else’s computer, then drag it to the Ventoy USB.
I tried to downlaod the 5 GB iso image from the Manjaro site from a windows computer and a second computer with Manjaro but with no success. I need to produce a bootable version of Manjaro on a USB drive so that I can install it on a brand new computer.
I tried your suggestion : sudo pacman -S qtbittorrent ad I get an error
sudo pacman -S qtbittorrent
[sudo] Mot de passe de michel :
erreur : impossible de trouver la cible : qtbittorrent
Hello soundofthunder,
I managed to download QTbittorrent and I managed to download the 5 gb ISO image of Manjaro in less than two minutes. Thank-you for your help and I learned something new !
Even if the user has been able to download the ISO, the problem itself persist: downloads from the official download site (https://download.manjaro.org/) seem to be very unstable. I happened to try to download today the last prerelease version of Anh-Linh 25.1-pre2 (Plasma) and I wasn’t able to. I have tried from two different connections.
And then I see this post… Is it working for anyone? Please test it with a complete ISO, because it might seem to work for a moment
We have no control over individual environments. It’s only possible to speculate as to the cause of download issues. All I can say with any certainty is that ISOs I have downloaded have had no issues.
I have control over my environment and can assure you I have no network problems.
Have you downloaded recently (like yesterday or today) any isos? I have tried a few times the last 48 hours. Only once I have managed to download the ISO I mentioned (that ISO, as far as I know is not anywhere else)
I’m just saying there is something odd with the Manjaro download server (or the service that runs it) and some people at least are not able to download Manjaro.
But for the Gnome and Plasma editions it seems like a storage issue or perhaps a load-balancer issue at the network provider - but your guess is as good as mine.
