I was exploring some configs of manjaro related to grub, boot splash (Plymouth). But some configs looked different to me (idrk if am right). And i dont really want to make another partition and install manjaro on it just to compare a single file. So, if anyone could help me with it.
That is possible. After all, a live environment is not the same thing — and does not serve the same purpose — as the installed system.
Furthermore, updates to the installed system may change certain defaults or even packages, while the ISO is only a snapshot and does not feature those updates yet.
Please use proper English, not US American cellphone text speak. It’s a waste of everybody’s time trying to guess what those acronyms mean.
There is packages and configuration which is used only within the live environment.
A couple of examples - the grub theme, the installer and the Manjaro specific extensions to the installer.
The installer also applies - using best effort - hardware specific packages, and when using the full ISO the office installation.
Other than that these live specifics - the final result is pretty much the same.
The ISO consist of four (4) overlays and only the desktop- and root file-system is copied to the final result as is.
As I previously advised - inspect the iso-profiles to find the specifics for a given profile. Packages can be additionally tweaked in a profile’s defined overlays.
The ISO cake
Package Lists | Configuration Files | File system | Overlays / Shadows |
---|---|---|---|
Packages-Mhwd | mhwdfs.sfs | ||
Packages-Live | live-overlay | livefs.sfs | desktop |
Packages-Desktop | desktop-overlay | desktopfs.sfs | root |
Packages-Root | root-overlay | rootfs.sfs |
If you really want to know what is going on - and how you customise the installation
Thanks! And sorry for that. Though It means “I dont really know”
