what am I supposed to do now???

Hi @Mmshukla21,

Try and see what happens if you try to start the unit manually:

systemctl start pkgfile-update.service

sorry tho im new on the forum so don’t know exactly how to format and send text correctly but anyway still learnin :slight_smile:

it started with no errors

    ~  systemctl --failed                                                                                                                ✔  15s 
  UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
0 loaded units listed.

Tip:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

For this you could create the file /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf with this content in it:

kernel.unprivileged_bpf_disabled=0

Explanation:

  • 0: “unprivileged enable”
  • 1: “only privileged users enable (until reboot)”. If this value is set, it cannot be cleared until reboot
  • 2: “only privileged users enabled”. If this value is set, it can also be changed at runtime to 0 or 1. This value has been added by recent kernel updates and is not available in older versions.

Or install linux517

sudo mhwd-linux -i linux517

For all the ACPI errors, check the Asus support and get the latest BIOS. Might or not be helpful …

yeah sure will take care of that from now on!!

That seems good. Mine also says that:

$ systemctl --failed
UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
0 loaded units listed.

So I’m thinking you’re good to go. Just do, follow @bogdancovaciu’s advice further.

so im supposed to do only one of those two things right? like i should either create that /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf or install linux517??? and what does this elvish mean Unprivileged eBPF is enabled with eIBRS on?

@bogdancovaciu

btw i have created that /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf file and pasted these kernel.unprivileged_bpf_disabled=0 as its contents.
last time when i updated my bios i was on windows and i don’t know exactly how to update bios when im on (say)linux and there are two files on the asus support website to download, one for windows and another for different OSes ig, please guide me through the bios update procedure

@Mirdarthos sure

You can make use of https://www.hirensbootcd.org/
I only gave you the hints, so you can set that 99-sysctl.conf as you need it.

the bios updating seems hard im wondering will i ever be able to get it done without reading the super comprehensive arch wiki
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Flashing_BIOS_from_Linux

im kinda dumb i don’t even know how should i configure it, i did it the way you said pasted that line into its contents like i don’t know which value should i choose 0,1 or 2?
kernel.unprivileged_bpf_disabled=0
btw are acpi errors serious??? or will it be okay if i just ignore them??
i had posted the same issue related to acpi settings in this forum before and some wise guy told me that i should just ignore’ em they’re no big deal…

This is pure, pure, pure

a Lack of knowledge does not mean a lack of intelligence.

lol btw this forum is helpful and amusing at the same time, i like it

I’m very glad you do. And seeing as you said someone said you can ignore it, I went and checked, and found:

And, indeed, if linux-aarhus said you can ignore it, I’d say its safe to ignore it.

Now relax and ignore it, the answer’s not going to change the more you ask.

:wink:
