I can't see the options to install proprietary nvidia drivers anymore

I have a hybrid gpu notebook and it’s not showing the proprietary drivers anymore. I did something wrong?

Please reinstall the mhwd-db pacakge: sudo pacman -Syu mhwd-db. Then sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300 should install the appropriate NVIDIA driver.

I did but it still not working.

Should I user prime-run command to get it working?

sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300

Skipping already installed config ‘video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime’ for device: 0000:00:02.0 (0300:8086:5917) Display controller Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620

This should mean that the NVIDIA driver is already installed. You should be able to use prime-run to run any program on the NVIDIA GPU.

I don’t think it’s working properly:

I couldn’t open the nvidia-settings, even if I try to open it with prime-run

I’m not sure of this fixes your issue but kernel 5.9 is end of life, install the next one (5.10) or a earlier one (5.4)

What do prime-run glxinfo -B and inxi -Gazy output?

~ >>> prime-run glxinfo -B [1]

I installed the kernel as @Hanzel suggested, but I only can restart the system in a few minutes to test it.

Was this file create by you? If so, what was the purpose?

You seem to have optimus-manager installed? Or have you removed it?

I still have optimus-manager installed, should I remove it?

A few months ago I tried to install a second VGA monitor using an USB dongle with a VGA output, I don’t believe that I have created the 20-intel.conf file during this process but could it be.

If you have optimus-manager, try the following: remove (back up) 20-intel.conf, then run optimus-manager --switch hybrid.

etc/X11/xorg.conf.d >>> ls
00-keyboard.conf 10-optimus-manager.conf
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d >>> optimus-manager --switch hybrid
ERROR: a GPU setup was initiated but Xorg post-start hook did not run.

If your login manager is GDM, make sure to follow those instructions:
GitHub - Askannz/optimus-manager: A Linux program to handle GPU switching on Optimus laptops.
If your display manager is neither GDM, SDDM nor LightDM, or if you don’t use one, read the wiki:

I did everything explained on this link section: GitHub - Askannz/optimus-manager: A Linux program to handle GPU switching on Optimus laptops.

Try the following:

prime-offload
optimus-manager --switch hybrid

.

I will give a try on this later, it’s seems that will work but I have a question: I will always need to close all the graphical sessions and login to use the nvidia card?

ramon@ifrit Linux 5.10.15-1-MANJARO x86_64 20.2.1 Nibia

WARNING : no power management option is currently enabled (this is the default since v1.2). Switching between GPUs will work but you will likely experience poor battery life.
Follow instructions at A guide to power management options · Askannz/optimus-manager Wiki · GitHub to enable power management.
If you have already enabled the new Runtime D3 power management inside the Nvidia driver (for Turing+ GPU + Coffee Lake+ CPU), you can safely ignore this warning.

WARNING : there is at least one Wayland session running on this computer. Wayland is not supported by this optimus-manager, so GPU switching may fail.
Continue anyway ? (y/N)

y
You are about to switch GPUs. This will forcibly close all graphical sessions and all your applications WILL CLOSE.
(you can pass the --no-confirm option to disable this warning)
Continue ? (y/N)

You need to restart the graphical session to switch between modes. You can edit /etc/optimus-manager/optimus-manager.conf and set

startup_mode=

if you want to be in a mode by default.

prime-offload
optimus-manager --switch hybrid

I tried it. My session restarted but nothing changed.

The weird think is that my system does not list my nvidia gpu (and it is working because I can use it on Windows)

~ >>> lspci -vnnn | perl -lne ‘print if /^\d+:.+([\S+:\S+])/’ | grep VGA [255]
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620 [8086:5917] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
~ >>> glxinfo|egrep “OpenGL vendor|OpenGL renderer”
OpenGL vendor string: Intel
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2)

If I run the below command it will display the GPU but no matter what I do it can be switched:

~ >>> nvidia-smi -L [1]
GPU 0: GeForce 930MX (UUID: GPU-3ba968c6-a617-7bec-f03a-3e7e069af66d)
