I’m running Manjaro Cinnamon with an Xorg session:

I used to swap Caps Lock and Escape permanently by doing:
dconf write /org/gnome/libgnomekbd/keyboard/options "['caps\tcaps:swapescape']"
but this no longer works. I also used to be able to do this via the Cinnamon Keyboard settings GUI, where tutorials show:
Open the Application Menu / use the Super key → search for Keyboard → click on Layouts → click on the Options button, then select
Caps Lock behavior→ Swap Esc and Caps Lock(Medium)
However, in Cinnamon 6.6 that Options button no longer appears in the Layouts section, so that GUI method is no longer available.
The following works but isn’t permanent:

I’ve also tried several other methods, but none of them persist after login:

Despite all this, ❯ setxkbmap -print -verbose 10 | grep xkb_options shows nothing, and the swap doesn’t take effect on login.
