How to handle unwanted fonts to improve listbox selections?

I wanted to reduce the number of fonts that were being shown in selection list boxes, (i.e., libreoffice, but not limited to it) and found the entry below. It looks pretty easy, just put a list of the font files (globs accepted) into pacman.conf. What’s nice is that you don’t have to uninstall and be concerned about dependencies, but just reinstall and the files will be removed from the system. I think I got that right.

I didn’t initially go this route, but I’m reviewing options.

I installed the Font Manager and clicked the checkbox next to the fonts. A file 78.Reject.conf was created in ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d. The list grew to 204 rejected fonts.

Is there a 3rd option, or a preference for either of the options above?
