Help installing optional dependency files and fixing system errors

Hello!

I’m new to Linux. Manjaro is my first Linux install. I’ve recently installed some video editing software (Shotcut). Once I updated pacmanager shotcut worked much better however there are still some problems.

I thought if I installed some of the optional/make dependency files for Shotcut that maybe this would resolve the problems. However, when I tried to do this I got the message ‘target cannot be found’!

I updated the kernel to the most recent edition. I then followed the advise on this video:
“10 Things to do after installing Manjaro”

Which is basically:

  1. Set the fastest mirror

    sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack

  2. Update your system

    sudo pacman -Syu

  3. Enable AUR support

  4. Enable TRIM (SSD only)

  5. Reduce swappiness

  6. Installing Snapd

  7. Check for errors

  8. Firewall Configuration

  9. Remove Orphans (Unused) packages

  10. Backup the system

I did not complete steps 9 nor 10, however the check for errors came back with the following:

I’m assuming there are loads of errors and I’m hoping someone can advise me the best way to proceed if so!!

A strange thing happened when I changed the layout and double clicked on the home icon, it automatically opened up VLC player and started playing some Bob Marley. Another problem i had was resizing the windows when opening up shotcut or osb, i think this is working okay now.

Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies as an inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
