Headphones not detected

Using KDE Manjaro Stable (latest build, updated) on Lenovo Ideapad S540-14IWL
Running latest 5.8 kernel at the time of writing and hybrid nvidia prime drivers 450xx, also optimus-manager-git is installed (I suspect on it to be the cause).

When I plug in the headphones via 3.5mm jack, sound keeps going through the speakers only. Headphones work, as tested on my mobile phone.

I’m relatively new to Linux so I can’t start searching for the problem at all. I hope someone could help me push this through.

Regards,
Alarg

Hello and welcome to Manjaro.

Either you have to select the the output via the means of KDE or you install pavucontrol-qt with which it should be quite easy to select the source.

Hey!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and I can’t see any attached devices, which is strange. I’ve just switched to Windows (dual booted) and the headphones work there.

I’ll keep looking further and let others know if I solved this.

Regards,
Alarg

@Alarg: I may not be able to help specifically but outputs of
inxi --full --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host
and
pacmd list-sinks
may be helpful. Cheers and Welcome!

It’s easy to overlook that, but yes, things do break sometimes only to be fixed with a subsequent update. Really pleased it’s working for you now.
