Freezes with i915

I tried different kernels from 5.15-6.12 to no avail, freezes periodically occur. I tried various healing methods, but all without success)

I also have frequent GPU freezes (1-6 times a day) with kernel 6.12.12-2. With 6.6.75-2 everything seems to be fine, if the freezes return, I will write here.

The logs ended with an error (then I rebooted the laptop):

Hi, tried item 6.16? I installed all 3 parameters, and there were no freezes for a long time, but then there was still one frost, I will continue to look.

sudo nano /etc/default/grub && sudo update-grub && reboot

It would appear that you have BIOS updates available.
Including some marked for ‘performance’.

Ah. Broadwell.
I had one of those.
And freezes were an issue. C-states being the only reliable fix.
But a few options are shown at the archwiki:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_graphics#Crash/freeze_on_low_power_Intel_CPUs

Thank you, the bios is the latest, for some reason the dates do not match, but also 2019(there is no other one there). I updated it when I was on Windows, but I never tried to update it on Linux.

I already use all three directives)), but sometimes it still hangs, although much less

intel_idle.max_cstate = 1 i915.enable_dc = 0 ahci.mobile_lpm_policy = 1

In general, the topic can be closed, and the only solution here is to buy a notbook on Amd).
P.S. I updated the Bios with [this] (fwupd - ArchWiki), I never thought that on Linux it’s so easy :grinning:
