I had that notification on unstable and since I do not use a virtual keyboard I deleted fctix5 which for some reason showed up as an orphan.I have not noticed any issues without it.
Had the same question, well I just removed all orphan packadges, Portmaster apparently didnt like that. So for now I wouldn’t recommend removing orphans after the update, but I will check and edit this post if al issues resolve after a reboot.
EDIT: Yeah somehow that killed Portmaster.
Yes, but iirc I had no orphans before the update, or at least since I installed Portmaster, but now I removed all orphans(as I routinely do) and it killed Portmaster. Not sure which package cause that and why out of nowhere it was a “necessary” orphan.
Well, not sure seems like some python packages and portmaster-stub-bin dont like each other or so.
Not sure who is a fault here, but removing the orphans cause my old Portmaster install to get uninstalled(all configs seem to are gone too).
And now I reinstalled it, but right now I am updating to [Testing Update] 2025-02-07 - KDE Gear, InptutPlumber, OGUI, Nginx, Curl and Portmaster got prompted to reinstall because of python-torchvision-rocm.
After the update I have Portmaster running again, but without my old config and now I have no orphans or marked all as needed.
I hope this doesn’t happen again, guess that was my first of the so “Legendary” “AUR-issues”(in 4-5 years of me using Linux/manjaro).
