Everything gaming related is screwed up since update

Yuzu freezes whenever it’s compiling shaders, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has no sound or won’t boot completely. NieR: Automata freezes. Before a few restarts everything else was moving slower than normal besides gaming related software.

Same thing on Plasma. If you are using a filesystem that supports snapshots, restore and don’t update. That got me going again.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look into it tomorrow. Binding of Isaac booted up for me twice with no problems now, Shovel Knight, too. No luck with NieR, Yuzu, and I just tried Nioh to no avail.

Edit: NieR has booted up successfully at least once now.

Just to be clear, you’re talking about the update of today or the 2024-10-01 one?

Today. Updated about an hour and a half ago.

Mostly seems like Yuzu is the only consistent problem at this point.

Do you see any error in the log?

These are Steam games, right?
And you installed Steam from the AUR; also correct?

After an update, you should rebuild any software that you have installed from the AUR. This is just how it is.

Did you rebuild Steam, and any related packages?

If not, that should be a prerequisite before opening a support thread.

I hope this helps. Cheers.

I’ll try that with Yuzu, thanks. Steam is working fine now.

Edit: Rebuild did not fix problem.

The log is not easy to read. It’s mostly service , config , header , and loader logs.

No error that I know of. Games are freezing when they start loading.

First off … this means you are talking about a third party source …

No yuzu package exists in the repos.

In those cases it is always expected that a rebuild is needed after system library updates.

But I’ll also mention that yuzu got legally taken down some while back. Its dead.

A news article thingy:

This also means that you cannot seek or receive support relating to what is illegal software.

As you have indicated no other issue exists the thread will now be closed.

One should normally reboot after rebuilding.

And, I didn’t suggest it would magically fix the problem, but it is generally a good habit to have.

Cheers.

What does journalctl -e show after a game freeze?
