Espanso not working under Wayland

Espanso is a system-wide helpful tool, that changes abbreviations to entire text, for example I write ysc and the output is your sincerely . The y is the trigger and sc is the key for the long text. I decided to take espanso and not autokey, because it was said that autokey does not match with wayland. Under Fedora KDE Wayland espanso works, but not und Manjaro Anh-Linh KDE.
For me it seems that Espanso can not or isn’t allowed to watch me typing, so the trigger is worthless. If I have a look at the log file, there is no reaction when I type triggers. Does anyone have an ides about this problem?

what kind of espanso is installed ? espanso-x11 or espanso-wayland ? check with

pamac search espanso | grep Inst

you’ll need the package espanso-wayland

pamac search espanso

will show the avaiable versions

This was my guide: Install on Linux | Espanso

And you did notice this?

Wayland support is currently experimental, therefore some features might be missing or not working well yet

Expanso is not available from the official Manjaro repositories – it is sourced via the AUR, which is not officially supported either by Manjaro or Arch Linux. Switching to the Manjaro Unstable branch is generally suggested for those who use AUR software, regardless.

With that out of the way, you may yet find a forum user willing to offer a suggestion or two. Unfortunately, I have none.

Regards.

The guide shows notable differences - so for Fedora there is a ready made rpm provided. For Arch one would have to build from source code and setup a systemd service (someone solved this already and shared the PKGBUILD via the AUR). There are also different setups for X and Wayland (so the --features flag for building with wayland support won’t do on its own). Just read the PKGBUILD of espanso-wayland.

I noticed it, and I thought: If Manjaro, which for me is absolutly reliable singe six or seven years, takes Wayland as basic, that will work. Another issue: I got two Monitors ( screen devices), and with wayland one is dead.

I think that must be/is related, not to Wayland directly, but your compositor.

This opinion is based on personal experience:
I have two monitors, on Nvidia (!) and Wayland and both work absolutely fine on KDE.

I have no complaints on Manjaro stability either…

I was not referring to Manjaro but to espanso…

If I use X11, it’s fine with two monitors. If I switch to Wayland, both are active, but just two or three seconds before the graphical System is to be seen, one gets dark. System Settings says, there is only one monitor.

This morning: Manjaro started with two monitors. Whatever the reason may be.

Topic closed with the problem apparently solved by magic.

Dear Admin, you closed too fast. I noticed, that my two monitors will start reliable, if I divide them totally from currency. If I do a normal reboot, after reboot there will be only one monitor working.
So, in a special sense, that problem is solved. If it is possible, you may delete this post at this place and put it into “Espanso not working under wayland”. Thank you very much.
