Dymo labelwriter

I have been trying to set up my dymo labelwriter to print 4x6 labels . I had raspbian OS it was pretty straightforward since I am using Manjaro now I have been unable to get my dymo printer to print a 4x6 label anybody knows an easy way to do it I would appreciate it I have set up the printer that does print but not the labels of the proper size

I am running a Raspberry Pi 4 with 8 gigs of RAM SSD card

cups list is correctly as DYMO LabelWriter 4XL

in the set printer options there’s many labels that are available 4 x 6 label is not available that is what I desperately need if any call me I would really appreciate this

Thanks Bobbe

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
    and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…

  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
    Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

  3. Which PPD file did you use under Raspbian and which PPD file are you using now?

  1. In the future, when providing code/output, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text so that the output looks like this:

    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
    Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat.

    Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.

    instead of like this:

    (as that makes both our lives much easier)

  2. No need to do anything right now as I’m an editor here on this site and have fixed it for you already. However, in the future I might not see your post so review my edits by pushing the orange pencil above the post I just fixed. :wink:

  3. If you don’t understand any question anyone is asking you, just say “I don’t understand the question.”

Thank you for fixing it.

No worries: so how about the PPD file?

:thinking:

Hello @Bobbe :wink:

Propably you need this driver also in Manjaro?

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/dymo-cups-drivers/

pamac build dymo-cups-drivers

I have tried but since I’m running the pie version it does not compile properly to where I can use that one

Do you get any errors that can help us help you?

:thinking:

@Bobbe I would say you are smart and you read comments. And for sure you downloaded that git repo:

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/dymo-cups-drivers.git

then of course you opened the PKGBUILD and added aarch64 to the arch list so that it look like this:

 arch=('i686' 'x86_64' 'aarch64')

and then typed at a terminal:

cd ~/dymo-cups-drivers/ && makepkg -si

right?

I would like to thank you all for your help. I fixed it by buying a hp computer and loading Manjaro on it it has a Amd chip and runs a lot faster than my pi. I know there is a driver that works for in Raspberry Pi os it worked just fine. I was unable to with Manjaro on Pi to get it to work.

I am now into 3d printing and 3d design so needed a faster computer.
