Running Manjaro KDE, and have an odd situation. Say I have a few music files (FLAC, mp3) in a folder. I navigate to said folder with the Dolphin file manager, then select a few audio-related columns to be displayed in Dolphin, such as Bitrate, Duration, Artist, etc., but these columns remain blank in Dolphin, even though when I examine the metadata of my music files, it shows all these fields are correctly populated.
Well, phooey, I figured it out, and I don’t like the “solution”.
You need to have indexing enabled (“File Search”) and file content indexed.
Rebuild the search index, with file content enabled, let it run and complete for your home folder (might take a while). Once it’s finished, try again with Dolphin. (Might have to log out one time if it doesn’t work immediately after the indexing completes.)
Thanks so much for your help, winnie, I am not crazy about it either, think I will do without the information on these Dolphin columns, there’s always a roundabout way to get that.
Posting in old threads, or “necrobumping” is generally discouraged in the technical issue subforums, since it can potentially create disjointed “zombie” information; outdated posts with data which is no longer relevant due to Manjaro’s rolling nature, combined with more recent posts reflecting more current circumstance.
Furthermore, technical support threads should remain succinct, and multiple pages are to be avoided if possible
