Hi,
I have just followed this HOWTO:
But my kernel does not boot with these options.
Docker is properly installed and it is working.
Is there any update to this document?
Have you tried another kernel?
Please provide some context for others wishing to help; sufficient system information is always a good start:
inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width
Cheers.
As far as I remember I followed the instruction from the arch wiki.

I haven’t tried with other kernels yet.
It looks pretty much the same apart the absolute path /usr/bin/nvidia-container-runtime
Then, please do so.
Instructions can be found in my previous link.
Changing a kernel can often solve seemingly unrelated issues. Kernel 6.6.x (LTS) is where I’d probably start; LTS are the most commonly compatible kernels.
I have tried with kernel 6.6 and it has the same behavior.
It does not boot.
It is stuck in the splash screen.
I wonder if the multiple monitors might be confusing things. Have you tried only using one? Otherwise, I’m out of ideas.
I’ll chime in again if I think of anything useful.
Cheers.
Do you mean to use one monitor or configure only one graphic card?
I have just reinstalled since a couple of weeks because I added a new disk and I wanted to reformat everything. Before that I had my Manjaro Linux with 2 graphic cards, 2 monitors and docker working perfectly. So I want to have the same configuration I had before reinstalling.
One more thing is that I created the file /etc/docker/daemon.json
but before creating it I had to manually create the directory /etc/docker
and I don’t understand the reason.
Docker is up and running:
But without Nvidia support.
Well, you can’t generally create a file in a directory that doesn’t exist. It stands to reason that it should need yo be created first.
Glad you have it at least partly solved. Cheers.
Sorry I was not meaning that.
I was meaning that it is strange that there was not /etc/docker directory. It means there is no configuration for docker OR the configuration is in another directory?
The problem still exists. I can’t run docker images on my NVIDIA GPU.
You have that file in place now, right?
Could you paste the output of:
cat /etc/docker/daemon.json
According to that tutorial the content should be:
{
"runtimes": {
"nvidia": {
"path": "nvidia-container-runtime",
"runtimeArgs": []
}
}
}
Regarding updates to the tutorial, the best person to ask is probably the user who wrote it.
Keep in mind that the tutorial was written in 2022 and that user may not even monitor comments anymore.
It is there:
The Archlinux document is very similar and it does not mention to change kernel module loading or boot options:
But it looks like it is working:
both ways and the problems seems to be solved.
I wonder to know what the kernel boot option is needed?
I don’t see any mention of kernel boot option in the tutorial you linked to.
Ah, I see. No, I don’t understand it either.
It was necessary at some point. It’s not anymore.
Please, refrain from posting screenshot of text. Instead, to provide terminal output, copy the output and paste it here, wrapped in three (3) backticks, before AND after the pasted text. Like this:
```
pasted text
```
Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:
~~~
pasted text
~~~
This will just cause it to be rendered like this:
Sed
sollicitudin dolor
eget nisl elit id
condimentum
arcu erat varius
cursus sem quis eros.
Instead of like this:
Sed sollicitudin dolor eget nisl elit id condimentum arcu erat varius cursus sem quis eros.
Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.
Thereby increasing legibility thus making it easier for those trying to provide assistance.
For more information, please see:
Additionally
If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C
. For example:
LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl
This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.
