Display flickering on mouse move

I recently bought a new laptop and wanted to install Manjaro XFCE (i am using it on the old one for quite a while).

But even the live usb has a strange problem, always on mouse move or sometimes on keyboard presses the screen flickers.

I have made a short video to show the issue but please be aware that this could cause an epileptic fit, so only watch if you can handle flickering.

Video: streamable.c om/a50wyo (seems I am not allowed to set links)

I managed to install the system but having the same issue there. I tried the solution of the thread 97556 but it only made the system unbootable.

Also I then tried to install the best matching proprietary driver via command line with:

It results in the same message when doing this via Manjaro Settings Manager → Hardware Configuration → Button Autoinstall Proprietary Drivers

i thought its because of the noveau driver…

there are failed nvidia logs, dont really see anything there related to graphics/display… but since it also happend on open source drivers, the flickering is not probably related to nvidia…
install different kernel, the 5.18 for example and boot with it

Hmm, I did a

sudo pacman -S linux518

and rebooted, and then

[manuel@nial ~]$ uname -r
5.18.10-1-MANJARO

And it seems to be gone. But I now have another interesting issue - when I move the mouse in the upper third of the screen, it gets laggy and refreshes only after a little while to its real position.

But I will test the system a bit and create a new issue for that one. Thank you very much brahma.

so try another kernels, the 5.19 experimental, and the 5.18rt…

I will do that. What did resolve this issue for now is to put a custom scaling (eg. 0.9) at the Display setting.
