Deskop background and pinned software position resetting

Hello people!

I have had this issue where my desktop background keeps resetting to a default background along with the position of my software on my desktop changes positions to the top left. This happens approximately every 3-4 reboots.

I have attempted to lock the applications in place on my desktop to keep them from being moved around on the desktop, it continues to reset the applications’ position to the top left regardless of lock status. I have heard of putting the wallpaper into the wallpaper folder, but I don’t know how to do it without giving me an error telling me I can’t move the file into the wallpaper system folder, plus I don’t know how to move files using the terminal.

I am no expert when it comes to using the terminal, so If you have any solutions to my ongoing issue I’ve been having for a while and it can be fixed using the terminal, please provide me the solution with detail as I want to learn about the different things you can do in the terminal.
If there are any additional information or information I have not provided, please let me know!

I hope whatever solution(s) come from this topic can help others with similar issues!

You don’t need to mess with system folders. Plasma can load a wallpaper from any location in the filesystem where you have the permission to read files.

However, that said, there appear to be various ongoing reliability issues in Plasma for lots of people — albeit strangely enough not for everyone — ever since Plasma 5.25 was released, and at this point in time, many of those issues continue to endure in 5.26. I would therefore advise you to read and/or participate in the thread below.
