Clean Install KDE - Theme Breath Dark - LibreOffice Toolbars Show Black Text On Black Backgroud

Mod edit: Please don’t post screenshots.

Just double-checked. Mine is perfect. Make sure both GTK and Qt themes are set correctly.

It is a clean install about a day old.

How would I check:
Make sure both GTK and Qt themes are set correctly. ?

Hold on - I just reset my theme (Breath Dark) and moved ~/.config/libreoffice folder too…

Now I have a dark toolbar with dark icons.

AltF12 will pull up the preferences… but if I remember rightly I always would change my theme for office work (light colour scheme).

Step 1: Libreoffice - View - change the Icon Theme (Sukapura (SVG + Dark) will get you light/colourful icons.

However, the text is definitely white on a dark background.

Working through the colour schemes, the interface reacts well…

Colourschemes you can download…

  1. Card is a light creamy one - definitely a great light scheme to use when editing a white paper.
  2. Marble is lovely (bluish, takes you back)
  3. Windows Classic works well if you edit (take the brightness down a notch).
  4. Utterly Nord - getting darker and looking really great now.
  5. Primary Dark

Yes, the very best of all is (obviously) my own.
So copy this text…

Is this a Manjaro, KDE Plasma, or LibreOffice bug?

Libreoffice is famously janky about dark themes - and it isn’t a QT app… however, you can manage.

Check out Application Style…

  • Darkly
  • Klassy
  • Kvantum for eclectic tastes.

Plasma Style:

  • Breeze
  • Klassy (check out customisation menu)

Decorations:

  • Klassy (again, super customisation)
  • Darkly
  • Breeze

Well…
It’s been like this for years, every distro I’ve used in the past 5+ years has this.
Was hoping the Arch Linux people would have fixed it.

Might scare people away:

  • I installed OS.
  • I changed theme.
  • I ran LibreOffice and toolbars are unreadable.

I’ll see what other bugs there are…

Sure, but after being scared away from just about every other desktop, I find that adjusting my theming tastes more to suit the workflow is a great plan.

Sorry, what is wrong with screenshots?
What about a URL link to IMGUR?

This is possibly not a bug at all.

There are a lot of people actively tweaking themes across Linux generally; then you have the individual application makers that might have their own ideas; and KDE also have their opinionated defaults.

And then, Users commonly play with settings or install random themes that might confuse the issue.

People hard at work trying to ensure general theming consistency in Manjaro, and many other distributions, have to navigate all of this and hopefully produce a satisfactory result.

It’s not easy; and it’s not as simple as calling something a bug; although sometimes a legitimate bug somewhere can make the actual cause of a theming inconsistency difficult to trace.

Regards.

Hi,

Found some bugs I wish to report.
Nothing major, just some minor things.
Where is the official Manjaro bug tracker?
Thanks.

Hi @abc123,

I think you’ll find what you’re looking for here:

Or consider opening threads in the Feedback category.

Most likely you want to report issues unrelated to Manjaro itself. Look for the issue trackers of the corresponding application.

What Manjaro issue do you want to report?

You mean the issue when you don’t configure Libre Office properly for dark theme?

Just for the record, I am using the default Breath Theme (Dark version), my settings for Libre Office found at

Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Application Colors

The “Scheme” Dropdown is set to Automatic and the “Automatic” Dropdown is set to Light. System Theme and Dark Options don’t look so good.

Weird naming scheme.

The Toolbars on my install look good, and menus and Toolbars are quite readable.

Perhaps your problem is your choice of Theme. LibreOffice is not going to work well with all themes, due to their choices, and their choices don’t rate as bugs, just a different and potentially incompatible theming engine.
