Can't get past booting from usb to installation

Everytime I try to install Manjaro on my new surface laptop 4 the Ryzen 5 edition on with 16g ram I get stuck at the part right after I select the drivers

I’ve disabled ***Secure Boot (off) and I can see this to be true when I pull up msinfo32
I’m new to all this but really wanted this new laptop to be my everyday windows/Linux dual boot machine

Any help would be appreciated

Also tried selecting both the open source and proprietary drivers options

After selecting the driver option and the install starts I see a line saying:
cp:can not create directory :‘/run/initramfs/’ no such file or directory

This happens with both the minimal and full editions of gnome

TIP: enable UEFI

I’ve gone through this and applied the what was possible from the appropriate checklists but I still can’t get past the USB boot and selecting the drivers to use.
I’m left staring at and installation terminal which runs for a couple of seconds then stops/freezes
I never end up getting to the graphical installer
