Cannot turn on Bluetooth in GNOME anymore

Hi everyone,

I’m facing some issues with Bluetooth on Gnome today. I could successfully turn on Bluetooth earlier, pair devices and play sound, but suddenly, I’m unable to turn on Bluetooth through the panel or settings in GNOME any longer. Restarting Bluetooth like read had not shown any effect so far, neither did system reboot.

Do you have any ideas how this could be fixed?

Here are some system outputs.

sudo rfkill list 0: hci0: Bluetooth

Please let me know if you would need any more information. Thank you.

Full system info as outlined here is always helpful:

Just to rule it out, one rare, strange occurance I’ve had on my Dell Inspiron 5575 with an Atheros Wi-Fi /BlueTooth chipset is BlueTooth suddenly decides it doesn’t exist. Rebooting doesn’t help, only shutting down and starting up again resolves it. :man_shrugging:

Wow. Actually, it solved the issue perfectly. After the full shutdown, everything is back to normal after a new start-up. (That’s odd, isn’t it? I was not a aware that a shut down would make such a difference from a reboot)

Thank you!

Yes, it’s quite odd, indeed. I’m glad I was able to help. :+1:

Also have AX200 bluetooth “not working” (with btusb driver in inxi, just like OP).
Happened to me just now also. Just shutdown was not enough for me. Had to turn power switch to OFF and ON again on PSU for like full motherboard restart and then Bluetooth returned.

EDIT:
Found alternate fix to turn it on, without the need to cold-reboot.:

sudo rmmod btusb
sudo modprobe btusb
