Cannot shut down after update on unstable branch

It’s been a while since a breaking change updates on unstable branch, I still haven’t been able to shut down from my PC properly (I remembered that the updates added a Cancel button when pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del). When I press shut down (from Ctrl + Alt + Del or from shutdown menu), my PC screen goes black and hangs like that forever (I still be able to move the mouse though). Right now I have to press Windows + L to go to login screen to logout first before pressing Shut down. Do you have any idea what causes this problem?

My PC info:

  • KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4
  • KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0
  • Qt Version: 6.7.2
  • Kernel Version: 6.10.4-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
  • Graphics Platform: X11
  • Procesor: Intel core i7-137000H
  • Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel Graphics

Unfortunately not.

But I can provide some ideas.

  1. The CPU is i7-13700 - which provides Iris based graphics. For Iris based graphics you may need to add a kernel argument.
On my Tuxedo laptop - using the same cpu - I have i915.enable_guc=2 in kernel cmdline.

  2. Have you tested Wayland ?

  3. Could be a theming issue - iconset ?

I found the solution here: KDE Hangs on Shutdown, Restart and Logout. Black screen [SOLVED] (Page 2) / Applications & Desktop Environments / Arch Linux Forums

Go to System Setting > Session > Desktop sesion > Choose “Start with an empty session” in Session Restore
