Brightness keys on keyboard do not increase/decrease screen brightness

I use running dual boot Manjaro GNOME on Ideapad 5 15ITL05. Intel i5 11th gen.

Hotkeys for sound inc/dec/mute work and so does the flight mode and lock key.

But the Brightness keys on f5 and f6 do not show any response in Manjaro. There is no fault in the keyboard as they function well in windows.

I have tried various kernel versions as well but the problem still persists.
Also,
Hotkey f9 supposed to open settings type “i”
and key f12 should click screenshot type “S”

Here is my system info,

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

:+1:

P.S. If you want to notify me that you did provide this information, please  this message and I’ll come back and have another look.

I don’t know anything about Wayland, so I hope someone else reads this and now has enough information to help you…

:sob:

Thanks anyway!

So this Wayland server is Manjaro specific? or is it something my laptop has regardless of any OS?

It’s Gnome-specific and I’m on KDE that is still using Xorg until Wayland gets out of the buggy state it’s in and then it’ll be an option and if it’s stable enough, it’ll become the default and one of the reasons I’m on KDE and not Gnome… :man_shrugging:

Please read this:

especially the section “Linux has multiple GUIs”
