After full update, Gnome Desktop crashes

If gnome fails to start, the first step is to disable all extensions from tty: gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-user-extensions true Then see if you can log in and re-enable your extentions one by one until you find the culprit. If that doesn’t help, the next likely candidate is a xorg or driver problem.

How would I best check the GPU drivers?

Usually the inxi -Fazy from terminal or TTY gives the complete information about the system to start investigating.
