Bluetooth is not working (AX210)

I’m with the latest version of manjaro Minimal and with kernel 5.14 installed, the Wifi is working normal but the bluetooth is not working, even with the modules loaded, I have tested the test updates in archlinux with the latest kernel, it didn’t work either.

i already tried to remove the file “iwlwifi-ty-a0-gf-a0” and nothing changed. in other distros (fedora 34,slackware Current, zorinOS 16) it works fine

my inxi output:

So for AX200 & AX201, there is a regression issue with linux-firmware for bluetooth. WiFi would work 100% fine, but bluetooth does not. It either does not connect, or it keeps constantly disconnect. From a really quick online search, AX210 has the same issue.

Though for some people using the AX210, they fixed it by using different kernels.

You might want to try the linux-firmware-git package from the AUR.
A new firmware file for that bluetooth chip has been added 4 days ago:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=087753f61e17ac978c97bc9e838bd64837675c44

After installing the firmware package, make sure to do a cold boot (full shutdown, not just reboot).

I had a look, and couldn’t find a solution

strange, I have dualboot with fedora 34, and it is running normal with the latest updates

In my tests, every time I change the firmware the bluetooth is working normally, but after I restart the bluetooth it’s back to trouble.
I installed the last available firmware and now it is working again but I am sure that if I restart it the bluetooth will have a problem.

so please read this:

Especially the Linux has multiple kernels section, then try an LTS kernel and hopefully the problem will go away “automagically”.

:crossed_fingers:

I’m having the exact same issues as @EduardoFox3 - the bluetooth is not working unless I switch the firmware. Then it works until the next reboot and stops working again until firmware change. I tried all the kernels from 5.10 LTS to 5.15 RC with the same result.

Do you have the same chipset?

What are you doing exactly?

Yes, I have the same Intel AX210 chipset.
Reg. firmware I’m downgrading (or upgrading) linux-firmware to lower (or higher) version. The strange behavior is that the bluetooth always works after up/down grade once rebooted, and it always stops working after the next reboot. Kernel change seems to have no impact on that whatsoever (as long as the version is above 5.10 - probably this chipset was not included before that).

Does it work if you do a cold boot (shutdown) instead?

What if you unload and load the module again?
sudo modprobe -r iwlmvm iwlwifi && sudo modprobe iwlwifi

No, it doesn’t change anything.

Also doesn’t affect the issue.

Hmm, ok. I assumed it was the same issue as mentioned here in the bug-report below:
Apparently not though.

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213829

btw. There was yet another firmware update for AX210, 12 days ago.
I’d give that one a try. Maybe it’s fixing it:

No, after a reboot the bluetooth is still not available.(Intel AX210)
