I updated some packages yesterday via pacman and shut down the PC for the night. This morning I boot up to find that my screen is completely black after the motherboard’s boot screens show up. I’ve tried chrooting into my installation and removing linux59 but to no avail as I’m running 510. I also tried pressing CTRL + ALT + F2 as I saw some people mentioning that might help. Nothing. So basically I’m stranded for now, hopefully someone can help out.

More specifically:
Some Nvidia cards don’t work with the current 460.80 drivers when used with Display Port and/or 4k Monitors. More about the issue at the Nvidia Developer Forum . We recommend to switch to Nouveau driver as needed. If you however need the Nvidia driver, you can get the
PKGBUILDs of the 460.73.01 version and build your driver locally withmakepkgor use the pre-compiled packages: nvida-utils, dkms and lib32 + precompiled .

I use displayport but I have an AMD gpu. Does this apply at all to me? The driver I use is the open source Linux driver.
In that case, I highly doubt it. I mean, it’s not even close to the same brand. No, it’s not that, then.

The problem is I boot to a black screen with no way of getting any information, no error messages, no input, etc.
Can you boot with a into live ISO environment?
If so, boot into the live ISO environment, enter a chroot environment, and provide the details that way.

I am also having the same problem. PC goes into grub menu than stuck for few seconds longer than before. Than goes to systemd.

I’ve replaced my DisplayPort with an HDMI, didn’t work after plugging into the GPU. Luckily my CPU has integrated graphics, so I tried plugging the HDMI into my motherboard - and it seems to have worked. However now when I boot I’m left on the command line with errors telling me Samba daemon as failed to start. Clearly something with this update messed up my graphics drivers though.
