This started happening since last few updates. After I entered my LUKS password in the Plymouth prompt the system goes into black screen, can’t even switch to any TTY. However, if I press Esc
immediately after entering the disk password, the system boots normally. This is so strange I don’t even know how to debug this. Any help will be appreciated.
I noticed this issue with Kernel 5.10
, 5.11
& 5.12
. I hybrid intel-nvidia
graphics. I am using latest nvidia-prime
driver from mhwd
.
I had something similar recently. I noticed that if I unplug my second monitor, SDDM loads fine and I can proceed and plug it in back.
However, this is not necessarily the same issue.
Welcome to Manjaro!
Please read this:
How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text .
The relevant part of a journalctl --boot=0 --system
when:
you do get they system booted
it doesn’t (use boot=-1
to get the previous boot)
would be helpful as well
P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which CPU/GPU or Kernel, … you have without typing it every time
Output of inxi
is below. I have updated my profile as well.
