I have seen comments that this can be only a partial solution that only allows 0% or 100% volume in ALSA
The other modprobe option using patch file mentioned in the bugzilla report (alc294-sound-patch.fw) might work better for this particular laptop. But the patch was originally for an Asus zenbook, and an experienced Linux audio expert was not keen on this as a solution for other laptop models

The verbs necessary will differ depending on the model of Zenbook
I think that it is more likely that the verbs will not be correct for this system and the modprobe option will fail
The optimal solution is to find the correct configuration verbs for the audio codec on this laptop model when it is working correctly (on Windows) to create a Linux patch with working audio verbs
There is a tutorial explaining how to get audio verbs from a Windows VM, but this would be difficult for an inexperienced Linux user to implement

I have never used a vm or HDA verbs to work out audio codec issues so this is beyond my experience
