AMD Renoir (4800H, 1660ti) KDE: External Monitor No Display

I’ve looked through the numerous no-display manjaro support posts, but have not found a solution for AMD yet. I have a Samsung monitor with a built in KVM switch that runs seamlessly on Windows10 and my previous Manjaro Ideapad (3500U). However after upgrading to Renoir with an HP Omen 15, Manjaro will no longer allow a connection to the monitor. Worse yet it momentarily provides access to the keyboard/mouse connected to the monitor before noping-out.

I’ve tried using the AUR package for optimus-manager with AMD. Switching to AMD mode, however this does not alleviate the issues. (link removed, no links allowed)

I have installed XRANDR (xorg-xrandr-1.5.1-2) however this has not helped either.

The devices INXI data is listed below, if anyone could point me in the right direction I’d really appreciate it.

I think this is the same issue.

Have you tried the nvidia mode? That’s the one that should work.

@pobrn thanks for the quick response, I’ll try now.

@pobrn unfortunately switching to nvidia does not resolve the issue.

Double checking that the drivers are installed properly & up-to-date reveals I’m using the latest Nvidia/AMD drivers.

This indicates that the nvidia driver is not loaded/installed. Can you run sudo mhwd -f -i pci video-hybrid-amd-nvidia-450xx-prime and then post the output of pacman -Qqs nvidia-450xx?

The mystery continues. I tried sharing a photo but I’m unallowed. Hardware Configuration – System Settings GUI shows that video-hybrid-amd-nvidia-450xx-prime is the only current driver installed.

Did I mistype it? What does sudo mhwd -la output?

I see now. The 450xx drivers are not available for the 5.9 kernel, only the 455xx (and only in the unstable branch). Since that’s a beta driver, I cannot recommend it. I suggest you install linux-latest, reboot and select the 5.8 kernel in the GRUB menu, then uninstall the 5.9 kernel, and try again. Or do you have any reason for using an rc kernel?

No explicit reason for being on 5.9, I will revert to 5.8 and test.

Switched to 5.8, still targeting 5.9
