okay, last step. switch to nvidia with

sudo envycontrol -s nvidia

reboot and recheck after rebooting with

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE && glxinfo | grep server

if the server is nvidia instead of SGI (Intel) everything is successfull

you can always switch between intel and nvidia with envycontrol
(envycontrol -h) prints out the usage. keep in mind that a lot of laptops breaks if you try the hybrid mode. if you’re on battery switch to intel, otherwise switch to nvidia (keep in mind that a reboot is needed to switch)

This is not the first, nor the second, nor the third time I have seen you entirely ignore PRIME and insist a user force install ‘nvidia just’ because it appears to you they have no driver.

Please review how the drivers work, especially the PRIME profiles, and revise your standard approach.

You didnt need to do this.

It appears you may have tried to sync during mirror package changes.

Otherwise your system was supposed to be using PRIME, which means nvidia is off until you use prime-run.

Ex;

glxinfo | grep 'renderer string'
prime-run glxinfo | grep 'renderer string'

In a standard prime setup that would produce ‘intel’ output for the first command, and ‘nvidia’ for the second.

But of course that wont work anymore unless you are in envycontrol’s ‘hybrid mode’, which was already the default functioning of PRIME.

IF you like envycontrol, then great I guess and you can keep it.
Otherwise you can back out to your original status without envycontrol and simply use prime-run.
