Thank you for reading my post. I’m grateful for your help. I’m not experienced in such matters - yet!
After a serious car accident, and things going in storage while I recovered for over a year, I upgraded my system as follows: CPU [AMD Rizen 5 5500], ASUS Motherboard, RAM 32mb, and GPU Nvidia RX5030.
However, I cannot load the desktop, [plasma]. I think the most recent kernel on my system is: version 5.4.210-1-MANJARO
Error messages follow:
“Proc: Bad Value for hidepid”
“(EE) No devices detected.
Fatal server error:
no screens found”
I looked for appropriate graphics drivers, and tried searching with mhwd:
$ sudo nvidia-settings
$ command not found
I tried updating the system also.
The following steps were tried but I’m still flummoxed.

Dear Manjaro-Users,
This will be my first post! I really like to help the community!
I’am new to Manjaro/Arch, but I’am Linux Expert (since 1996). Here a short Fixed-Howto from me:
By using mhwd for installing AMDGPU Drivers, I discovered a link problem, when I’am using
mhwd-gpu --status
for checking the status of my Radeon RX 6500 XT Graphic Card.
:: status
warning: could not find '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-mhwd.conf'!
To explain this:
Here is the following problem, that there is no stand…
Please advise. Much appreciated.

can you please report
sudo mhwd-kernel -li
sudo mhwd -li

Thank you!
Here are the results of those 3 commands - the last one was too long to get every detail on screen.
Please see this howto:
[HowTo] Use public command-line pastebin services without installing anything!
for example:
inxi -zv8 | curl -F 'file=@-' https://0x0.st
then post the link that comes back
instead of pictures

Thanks again! I don’t know how to uninstall [these kernels] from CLI. Sorry!
I’ll try booting into 5.4 and let you know how that goes. Cheers!
First install a supported one - or more than just one.
Boot (reboot) so that you are now running this kernel.
Then you can remove the old one.
mhwd-kernel -h
gives you instructions if you can’t use the GUI
Your video drivers
mhwd -li
look pretty old to me:
video-linux from 2018.05.04
do these commands again and direct the output to a pastebin service as shown above
the pictures are … not good enough
You can also remove kernel with the Manjaro settings manager.
And then install kernel 6.1 and 6.6.
Can you post the output of
inxi -Fza
instead of the picture ?

Dear experts,
Sorry for my ineptitude but I have failed to work out how to use the paste bin services, and resorted to using character recognition from the images of the terminal data, i.e. results of > inxi -Fza
Please note, I have to login to windows 11 on my second HDD to send messages and I copy down any troubleshooting tips.
Perhaps it would be best to reinstall Manjaro, although all data will be lost? Also, I hope the new GPU and WM [Plasma] will be detected and start to work?
Thank you for any help you can offer. Data follows,

That is quite a feat - and an, to me, almost incredible accomplishment
and massive overcomplification as well.
inxi -Fza
gives output
…
you want to make it available to others:
[HowTo] Use public command-line pastebin services without installing anything!
This does not tell you how to do it?
My take away from this would be:
inxi -Fza | curl -F 'file=@-' https://0x0.st
I get this link back:
https://0x0.st/8Anl.txt
and there you go … post that link
… visit that link - and see your output …
or mine, in this case
You don’t need AI - just employ your own I
ntelligence … your own not artificial intelligence, but hopefully your very own …
ps:
format the output to something readable - please!
this symbol in the editor here: → </>
I have (crudely) done the editing for you.
… much of the output is missing - was apparently missed by your AI
Can you post inxi -Fza
in one single logfile (output) ?
I tried and failed. I had no way to save the data and forward it from within Manjaro. I also tried install linux54-nvidia but all I got was a blinking curser at the terminal. I will have another attempt or start from scratch. Thanks!
Thanks again, Stephane, et al. I put the lastest version of Manjaro on USB stick and booted into the live system. However, the wifi did not work, so I was unable to find or install a compatible driver. My router is downstairs and I cannot connect to it by ethernet, so I’m still stuck.

Move the PC to the router and plug it then.
