after the last update my Notebook only starts to a black screen with a blinking cursor. I am able to switch to another session (Fx-CTR) and to log in. I updated the system (without action because it’s already up to date) and to type “startx”. I also tried to boot with an older Kernel but without success.
As I have to write this from another computer now I am consolidating the output after typing “startx”:
xf86EnableIO: failed to enable I/O ports 0000-03ff (Operation not permitted)
vesa: Refusing to run, Framebuffer or dri device present
Fatal server error: (EE) no screens found
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: server error
As I am not able to past from the Terminal at my Notebook I would be happy if somone would help me out understanding how to provide additional information if needed.
However, as I am not deep into linux and this is my first error within my new Manjaro enviroment I would be most thankful if someone could help me bringing my Notebook back to be able to work again.
Thank you for your answer. I am able to read the output on my Notebook. How am I able to transfer it to another computer please? Additionally a am not able to see the entire message as I am only able to roll back three times and the output is longer.
As written I have several kernels installed and I already used an older one (unfortunately with no effect).
I have the same issue. (posting from an old live usb, chroot to my system and derived info from there) → that is why the kernel is reported as 5.6.15-1-MANJARO
I used mhwd-kernel command to install the latest (linux519) kernel, while I am normally running the linux515 LTS.
I rebooted into both kernels, including the ‘fall-back’ with the same result.
boot.log ends here:
[ OK ] Started Authorization Manager.

[ OK ] Finished Permit User Sessions.

I suspect that the Plymouth is not terminated correctly?
How can I force it? Or disable it?

Did you already try to boot with fallback initramdisk ?
Just out of curiosity, does a live Manjaro USB stick boot up for you? If so, perhaps start investigating from there…? I consider myself a newbie as far as Manjaro is concerned, so…
