1/2 boots are stuck at bootsplash

Hello, I recently downloaded KDE Plasma Manjaro as dual boot on my laptop. My main OS is Windows 11.
I have had some problems with the system right from the installation, but I fixed some of them by downloading appropriate drivers for Nvidia GPU.

Due to the limited space on my C: drive, I had to create partitions like this:

  • Root (/) is on C: drive
  • Boot sector is on C: drive (400 MiB)
  • Home is on D: drive

My laptop specifications are the following:

  • Laptop Dell G5 15 5587
  • CPU: i7-8750h
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 Max-Q
  • 16 GB DDR4 RAM

My problem is that sometimes, maybe like every second boot, gets stuck at bootsplash screen and I need to press power button for some time to turn off the laptop. The next boot usually works normally, and this cycle goes on and on.

I read somewhere I should provide as much detail as possible, so I tried to get info from the boot by using the following command:

journalctl --boot=-2 --priority=3 --no-pager

Which returned:

If anyone could point out any possible fix, I would be grateful.
Thanks.

Welcome to Manjaro! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  1. Please read the information behind this link. It will help you to post necessary information.

[HowTo] Provide System Information

  1. Please press the three dots below your post and then press the :pencil2:
  • If you give us information about your system, we can see what we’re talking about and make better suggestions.
  • You can do this by using inxi in a terminal or in console.
sudo inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
  • Personally identifiable information such as serial numbers and MAC addresses are filtered out by this command
  • Presenting the information in this way allows everyone to be familiar with the format and quickly find the items they need without missing anything.
  1. Copy the output from inxi (including the command) and paste it into your post.
  • To make it more readable, add 3 backticks ``` on an extra line before and after the pasted text.

(Wisdom lies in reading  )

Things you could try:

  • Boot with another kernel
  • :mag: possible boot-parameters for your hardware (in arch wiki)

Hybrid hibernation is used by Windows to give the illusion of appearing to restart system almost as fast as Linux, but devices are only placed in hybrid hibernation state and not fully powered down
Linux OS has to be rebooted to power down hibernated devices so they can be initialised when system is restarted

This issue can be avoided by using Power Off option to properly shutdown Windows OS rather than selecting Restart option

Optimal solution is to disable hybrid hibernation in Windows OS by turning off Fast Startup option

Thanks, I’ll have a look at that
