Zenbook UP6502ZD_Q539ZD Audio issue

Hello!

I’m dual booting Windows 11 with Manjaro KDE, and I have no sound. Headphones work while the speakers don’t. I have tried multiple solutions and had no luck whatsoever.

This is a Zenbook UP6502ZD_Q539ZD.
Card: sof-hda-dsp
Chip: Realtek ALC294

Below is some system information:

I would like to also mention that it shows that sound is coming out while it actually doesn’t.

In addition to that, I want to mention that I have already tried countless solutions that I have found on forums and other online sources and nothing has worked for that. Furthermore, I have attempted to solve this issue on multiple linux distros, and the issues persists across all of them.

I don’t know what to do anymore and I would really really appreciate any help.

Thank you in advance.

I have the same laptop model and am experience the same issues. Tried multiple linux distros, updating kernals, etc… The sound shows it is playing, but no sound comes from the speakers.

I had the reverse problem on Asus Zenbook UX370UAR with Realtek ALC295: the speakers worked, the wired headphones - not.

First, you should have only one sound server running - either pulseaudio or pipewire. You now have both of them running. I also had them both running so I installed the meta package manjaro-pipewire and it removed the conflicting pulseaudio (I choose pipewire just because it sounds cooler and more modern).

Then put the following line into your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:

options sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl index=0 model=asus-zenbook

and reboot. If it doesn’t help, try with another model from HD-Audio Codec-Specific Models — The Linux Kernel documentation, there is also asus-zenbook-ux31a

OP could not have 2 sound servers running, inxi reporting PipeWire running was a known false positive

How to prevent/disable suspend on idle (PipeWire)? - #2 by Yochanan

Just because PipeWire is installed and the service is waiting does not mean both PulseAudio and PipeWire are actually running at the same time.

You can verify which sound server is running the following command:

pactl info

inxi developer comments from later in that discussion show changes implemented to show audio server information with improved accuracy

But reconfiguring software audio servers is not effective if there is an underlying issue in ALSA

Modprobe model option asus-zenbook was reported to work partially for ROG Strix G712LV with ALC294 codec
Audio doesn’t work in internal speaker but it works on Headphones
audio playback from speakers worked, but could only be set to 0 or 100%
