Xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

i cant change resolution to 1360x768 its stuck at 1024x768
my graphics card is NVIDIA Corporation GF116 [GeForce GTS 450 Rev. 2] (rev a1)
when i try to add a 1360x768 resolution with command: xrandr --newmode "1360x768_60.00" 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
it says: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist) Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR) Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (RRCreateMode) Serial number of failed request: 19

and my monitor is a FLATRON W1941S if that helps

Hello everybody, i recently switched to a monitor with a 3440x1440 screen resolution. Unfortunately i sometimes need lower screen resolutions like 2560x1080 or 1920x1080, but i can’t choose them from my KDE system settings. I’ve already seen that others reported similar issues, but these topics either didn’t meet my problem, or were unanswered. I already saw, that it should be possible to manually add resolutions via xorg.conf, but i can’t find the configuration file. I also tried following …
