XFCE live iso (25.0.3) fails to boot on VM

I wanted to look at btrfs after installing a new Manjaro xfce iso on a Virtual box machine, but it does not boot properly, I am stuck at a black screen, “Manjaro” at the bottom and 3 dots.
With the KDE iso, no problem : boot is ok, installing is ok, running the installed KDE is OK.

Check sum of the XFCE iso is ok.
manjaro-xfce-25.0.3-250526-linux612.iso
manjaro-kde-25.0.3-250526-linux612.iso

I tested the xfce iso with Fr parameters or default ones (en) : same behavior.
I removed the quiet option at boot parameter and could do screens copies. The problem seems to be at Light DM start.

Not a very important problem as kde is ok, but it’s not the first time I have this problem when trying an iso in VM, but usually it resolves itself at second or third try.

Any idea about that ?

Could be plymouth - try removing quiet splash - for some reason it occasionally creates issue especially with virtualbox :man_shrugging: I have no idea why.

I quickly tested a fresh downloaded ISO xfce with virtualbox

get-iso xfce --full

New vm 4G/2cpu - booted the ISO - no issues on all AMD host.

 if the host is using Nvidia GPU - considering if this could be affecting the VM?

Just a thought - I have no means of testing the idea.

Done … and OK for the boot phase !
I will now install it.
Thanks for the help :grinning:

[Edit] Install ok, reboot ok

[Edit2} So, it seems that the “plash” when booting from the iso is not the same “splash” as when booting from the disk in the VM, while the install comes from the iso …

And why do we use plymouth … its useless
