Exactly the same here. Also using the L8390CDW. I’ve had no luck using the original Brother driver (using the AUR package). Only driverless, i.e. IPP, works without problems, but does not provide as much settings as the original driver. I had reset the Brother to factory settings already, but no luck.
There is a dedicated install script available at Brother, but I hesitate to run it, because I’m not ably to understand, what it will manipulate in my system. Too bad, but I think I have to stick with IPP.
I can only image this it has to be related to the extra CUPS wrapper package that is going to be installed when using the installer script, but that is only a guess.
