Wrong icons, text colour, and system theming

After a system update a little while ago, I noticed that most of the UI elements are incorrect. Many icons are missing, incorrect, or showing improper resolutions. The text colour in many elements such as the panels and menus are not adjusting to theme settings (staying black and being impossible to read), as well as KDE application theming.

In my system, some GNOME UI elements are being displayed, such as icons, despite not having GNOME installed. Note the generic icons used for the sidebar in the system settings application, and how window titles in the panel are the correct colour, but other elements like the system monitor widgets are not. Despite having all my theme settings being set to Breath Dark, much of the UI does not respect this.

Is this due to mismatched config files? A corrupted system perhaps?
Any advice is greatly appreciated

My guess is that you have inadvertantly deleted part(s) of the Breath global theme; perhaps as a result of other themes you have installed and removed.

  1. Switch to the Breeze Dark theme and see if the issue persists.
  2. Create a new user acount (for testing) and see if the issue occurs there, when using Dark Breath.

Let us know the results.

On the chance that other factors might be contributing, please provide system information as described (below).

Regards.

Welcome to the Manjaro community

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:

Update Announcements

The Update Announcements contain important information and a Known Issues and Solutions section that should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command with appropriate parameters will achieve this (naturally, formatted according to forum guidelines) and will generally be more useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form:

inxi -zv8

Be prepared to provide output from other commands whenever asked. It’s equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Applications / Manjaro Plasma Reset · GitLab

Hi Soundofthunder,
I failed to mention in my original post that this issue persists across user accounts, even new ones made purely for testing purposes. The theme choice also seems not to affect this problem.

As per your request, here is the output provided by inxi:
