Windows is no longer recognised by grub / os-prober

I have a duo installation of Manjaro Gnome and Windows 10 for many years. Recently, Windows is no longer displayed in the grub menu. It is obviously due to os-prober. The value ‘GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false’ is set in /etc/default/grub.

sudo update-grub could not be successful.

“Sudo os-prober” shows nothing.

Any idea?

Check if Windows partition is hibernated…

Windows 10’s Fast Startup can lock the partition, making it invisible to os-prober.

Run:

sudo ntfsfix /dev/sda2

Then try again:

sudo os-prober
sudo update-grub

That’s a start…good luck!

Thank you. But that doesn’t help.

Meanwhile I found the solution: I mounted the two Windows partitions sda1 (600MB created by Windows) and sda2 (-> 2 clicks in nemo). This made os-prober and update-grub work. The menu is complete again.
