Windows 11 24H2 Dual-Boot Error - Grub Not Working (Grub Rescue)

Hey Everyone,

When I updated my Windows 11 OS to 24H2, I am no longer able to log in to GRUB anymore. It just sends me into the GRUB rescue screen and it says that the file system is unknown. My guess is the update broke something.

Reading a few posts, the GPT may have gotten wiped out: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsOnDeck/comments/1fx9zyf/easy_fix_for_windows_11_24h2_and_steamos/

Anyone know how to fix this on the Manjaro side? Not sure if I can use the same commands in the SteamOS post above.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your time and help, it is greatly appreciated!

Thanks @Teo, which section should I focus on for fixing Grub? The “Reinstall Grub” section?

Thanks!

Yes but you should read all of it of course. Live usb, chroot, then reinstall grub with a command according to platform (bios or efi).
After reinstalling update-grub, then reboot in manjaro from disk and sudo update-grub once again to add the windows entry, because it cannot see the windows properly from live usb and chroot.

Awesome @Teo, thank you for the help! That fixed my issue and I have a fully working dual boot laptop again.

Thank you!
