Hello forums,
I hope people can help me with this, as i have reached the end of my debuggung knowledge, and google cannot help me with this apparently.
This issue is as described briefly in the title.
All windows seem affected, even the terminal contents can flicker.
It briefly stops when i restart i3 via the keybind.
But all new window contents will resume flickering.
When i initiate a screen recording, the flickering is present, but all new windows will stop flickering.
I have had different Elements of windows flickering, e.g. the borders or the scrollbar, or contents.
here is a link to a screen recording if needed:
I am on Manjaro linux 6.19.0-rc7-1-MANJARO
Intel i5-13600KF
NVIDIA 4060
32GB RAM
I have tried reinstalling the x11-server, installing two different older kernels
and i have this issue since at least December of last year.
That looks like an Nvidia driver issue. Which Nvidia driver are you using?
Thank you for your reply!
i am using
linux619-nvidia 590.48.01-0.8 (linux619-extramodules) [installed]
linux619 is still not considered a stable kernel. Is there any reason why you would want to use that one instead of the linux618 LTS kernel (and the Nvidia driver that goes with it)?
Thank you for the suggestion, i rebooted with the old kernel (i dont uninstall older kernels if the newer is still an rc one)
I removed the old kernel and the nvidia driver that goes with it.
However, the flickering persists as of now.
I am going to restart again.
You might actually be better off with a lower version of the Nvidia driver as well, if your GPU supports it.
Also, with regards to this, please provide the output of… ![]()

Just restarted, and the flickering persists sadly ![]()
I cannot install an older version, pacman wont let me do it
# pacman -S linux618-nvidia-575xx nvidia-575xx-utils

It means that you have to remove linux618-nvidia first before you can remove the 590 driver.
According to this… ![]()
… your GPU is supported by 535, 570, 575, 580 and 590. So I would recommend 570 or 575, as they are known to work best with certain older hardware.
And I’d recommend you use mhwd to install it:
that is cool, i have previously only used this tool to manage kernels. Very cool!
Rebooting now after removing linux-nvidia-meta and installing video-nvidia-575xx
I believe you actually used mhwd-kernel for the kernels…
Downgrading the nvidia driver to the 575-version ended up fixing the enitre thing.
(i used mhwd for this)
Thank you lots for your kind support forum people!
