Simple question.
Will the STABLE BRANCH update come this month?
Will there be a gap between releases?
It’ll come when it’s ready.
In order to have a good idea on the progress of things, monitor the Testing Updates thread(s). As long as there are serious enough problems being reported there, it would be a mistake to push those packages to Stable.
Thank you. I’ve been checking the testing branch regularly.daily.
From what I’ve seen, it seems like there are almost no problems.
[Testing Update] 2025-01-04 - Kernels, Plasma 6.2.5, LibreOffice, Qemu
I switched to the testing branch, used it for about two days, and restored to the stable branch with TIMESHIFT. The reason for the restoration is
- DE freezes when wake up from suspend.
- reisub doesn’t work
- Can’t switch TTYs.
I guess.
I’m guessing it’s because I’m facing a Cinnamon transit, so I went back to the stable branch. It’s like a twice-yearly seasonal thing. It’s not gnome or KDE, it’s an unofficial flavor that’s not supported, so I think it would be a bother to ask you here. The problems I have are almost always upstream problems, so Manjaro is innocent.
I don’t trust Cinnamon. But I love it.
@ehhen Note that I moved your query to a separate thread.
It’s a community edition that I help out with. Who said it’s not supported?
No bother at all. Please create a Support topic and use the cinnamon tag.
Thank you.
I was worried that I might not have been able to express my intention well, but it turned out to be true. It’s because of my poor English. I couldn’t express my intention well.
However, I have already switched back to STABLE. In my current personal situation, it will be difficult for me to switch back to TESTING for a while.
Switching branches is a simple task, but it will take up a lot of precious time of others to investigate it properly.
However, I will upload inxi.
I am always impressed by the dedicated response of manjaro moderators and team. Unfortunately, I can’t read between the lines accurately.

2 zrams, but one not mounted to SWAP ?
(on top of regular partition SWAP, but this can be combined with zram in a way …)
Swap is working properly.
1 year with this configuration. Suspend, sleep, hibernation, etc. are also working perfectly.
No problem at all.
When an extremely large application is launched, it uses swap from ZRAM, and if it eats up that, it uses SWAP on NVMe. For example, 20GB MKV with full cache MPV setting.
I don’t understand your intention. Are you saying there is another good way?

I use this as an independent RAMDISK.

Note: I have moved the thread to Support for now, because this is becoming too technical for Non-technical Questions.
This environment is no longer there. I have a snapshot, so I can reproduce it.
I think that other people would have no idea what we were talking about. I’m not a complainer.
If I’m not mistaken, this was originally an unproductive discussion and not what I wanted, so let’s end it here. Thank you for your cooperation.
I don’t expect Manjaro to be perfect. I hope it is, but there will always be something tiny. It is important to be able to continue my daily work, so I have placed emphasis on that from this year. My policy this year is that maintenance time is a waste of life. I want to replace maintenance time with time to use the PC. (That’s my modest goal)
Thank you again for your cooperation.
maintenance time is a waste of life
No offense @ehhen, but if that is/becomes your policy, then Manjaro won’t be good to you. Unless we have a miscommunication somewhere, which is also a possibility.
That’s a misunderstanding, or a misinterpretation.
Language barriers and barriers. I probably read the forums quite diligently and spend time on maintenance. It will continue. Because without those efforts, manjaro will eventually break (break down from a beginner’s perspective). I think the translation is being over-received. I don’t want to get into a silly argument.
