I updated my system a couple of weeks ago when this came out. I had an issue with a game that was running Wine through Lutris. Wasn’t really sure where the issue was, if it was Wine, Lutris or the System Update.
I see here in this post that Wine was updated and not sure if I should try to revert to a previous version? I had tried removing Lutris and Wine and reinstalling but I’m not having any luck. Any suggestions on how I should proceed? Should my focus be on Wine? Lutris? Or something else? Once I have an idea where to start, I can share more details on system and errors.
I was so impressed when I first installed it how everything worked perfectly. I really wasn’t expecting that and it’s run fine for several months until the update.

Without more information it’s difficult for anyone to point you in the right direction. You might, for example, tell us which game you’re having difficulty with; place it in the title so that others who may be experiencing the same can immediately find it.

you should focus on Lutris. Lutris normally brings his own wine-versions. You can set another wine-version in the configuration of every game/application.
Also you can use the “Show Protocol”-option in the “right-click”-menu to see whats going on.

I looked at the last error Lutris gave me and found a config file setting I could modify and it worked. Here is what an AI search suggested:

Alternatively, you can use a script or configuration change to allow Wine to bypass this limitation, such as setting up a group with elevated privileges as described in the NixOS Discourse thread.
Here is an example of how to modify the /etc/security/limits.conf file:

username hard nice -11
Replace username with your actual username. This configuration allows the user to set a higher nice value, potentially resolving the issue with setpriority.
I made a backup of the config file and tried it, though I believe copying things off the internet to try without knowing what you’re doing is a bit risky. For example, I don’t know if these settings opened up a security vulnerability in any way. I need to go back and learn what each of these commands do.
The Wine settings for this game were: GE-Proton with Esync and Fsync disabled. I don’t know anything about the missing Vulkan API. Would that make things run better? BTW: Running this game in Manjaro seems to use fewer resources than running it in Windows.
Something else I need to keep an eye on the cache files that get produced. They filled up my drive but that is a separate issue for a separate forum post.
I feel I know just enough to be dangerous. I didn’t want to corrupt my system (though everything is backed up). Thanks for pointing me to address the issue in Lutris. I really didn’t know if it was a Wine, Lutris or system issue. I need to be more patient and less lazy in the future. I am grateful for everyone in the communities help.
