Hello!
I’m new here and a complete beginner when it comes to Linux, apart from a few attempts with Mint.
I want to move away from Windows on my desktop computer. Since I haven’t installed any Ethernet cables in my house, I connect all my computers through Wi-Fi. My PC has an ASUS PCI card with a Broadcom 4352 chip. I’ve tried a few things and apparently the driver isn’t included with Fedora because it’s not open source.
While booting from USB to install Manjaro I clicked into system information and in the configuration menu it tells me that there is a proprietary driver for my Broadcom chip. I tried to install it but got many errors. I tethered an internet connection through my iPhone which worked just fine so I went on with the installation.
After rebooting it recognized the chip and installed drivers on its own. I could enter the WIFI password and connect.
BUT:
After some minutes beside the Wi-Fi icon there appeared a yellow exclamation mark indicating a limited connection. From that point, no matter what I do, it doesn’t work anymore. If I reboot I have a connection again till the same thing happens again.
I tried Fedora, with the same result, I tried Mint where it works flawless and without any problems, like in Windows.
I’m at a loss as to what could be causing this. I would appreciate any help or advice.
