Wifi card doesn't connect

I have an Apple MacBook Pro and wifi card isn’t working. I’ve done sudo -Syyu and it says nothing to do.

In Manjaro Settings Manager, under hardware configuration it says I have a “BCM42602 802.11 ac Wireless LAN SoC (Broadcom)”. I will also say I cant’ do anything with that, but maybe I don’t know how to right click in Manjaro.

Symptom: can’t connect to multiple wifi access points. It says that the password is incorrect. The password is correct.

As a new or infrequent forum user, you are encouraged to take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:

The Update Announcements contain a Known Issues and Solutions section and should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form (preferred):

inxi -zv8

Regards.

Thanks for replying with the system information, however it is not easy to read due to it being incorrectly formatted. Please edit your post by clicking the :pen: icon at the bottom of it.

Pre-prepared instructions below for formatting terminal output as code are below:

Note that any code or command output (such as inxi output) should be placed within a scrollable pre-formatted text enclosure according to forum guidelines.

See here for instructions:

[MiniHowTo] Present code or command output

Note: Grave accent (or, backtick) characters are used. :eyes:

For inline code or to show a single command:

  • for example, typing: `code here` will display the text as code here.

For multi-line command output:

  • place text beween two rows of three (```) backtick characters to form a scrollable text box, or …
  • use the </> button in the Compose window to achieve the same result.

The empty row between these rows of backtick characters is where to paste any multi-line command output (such as inxi).

An example of a pre-formatted text enclosure:

What is a Quark?

A. In Physics, an elementary particle and fundamental constituent of matter.
B. A character from the Star Trek: "Deep Space Nine" television series.
C. A soft, creamy, usually unsalted cheese traditional to central Europe.

edited. thanks for the note.

The output you posted shows that at least it is detected and a driver binds to it. Can you clarify if there are any access points that you can connect to? And this is a regression, and things have worked in the past? Furthermore, if possible, you should try creating an open wifi network with your phone and check if you can connect to that. Another thing you can try is starting sudo journalctl -f, then try to connect to a network while you leave the command running, there might be an error message or such related to why the connection fails.

Sorry I didn’t start with that. I installed Manjaro on this laptop for the first time today after using it for years on a headless server. I tried multiple access points (my wifi, my phone) and multiple people entering the password, and reading it back. I’m sure that’s not the problem.

Your suggestion to check the journal gave me something to go on (dates removed)

I was quite surprised to to see the apple firmware being as new as it is.

I have a Intel (no amd) macbook pro 2017 which is no longer in support from Apple.

Please see here for advise related to Broadcom wireless - ArchWiki as this will be valid for Manjaro as well.
