Wi-Fi Fluctuates Wildly, Disconnects - Tops Out 5 Mbps - Dell Inspiron 5559 [UPDATED]

I’ve been using Manjaro on my Dell Inspiron 15 5559 laptop for about 9 months now. This is my second Linux distro and my first on a laptop. I’m still pretty much a newbie.

Every wifi connection I’ve made fluctuates from 0 to around 5 Mbps. I was testing online speed today and my test came back 6.75 Mbps download speed and 7.90 upload speed. I’m on a Frontier FiOS service and router and on my desktop and, using the same test, I get 60 Mbps both directions. Before this installation, the laptop also got 60 Mbps in both directions in Windows 10.

This is very frustrating, considering that I used the open source drivers. The onboard wifi is an Intel dual band Wireless AC 3160 adapter.

Is there some setting I’m missing? Should I switch back to the proprietary driver, and if so, how?

I keep seeing other subjects that are for other PCs, but not mine, specifically, so I worry that the solutions won’t work for my setup.

Any assistance or information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
