What is this sht, why is there a mess of 2 different types of icons in dolphin now, & how do I fix it… Tyty
Your post has been moved to a dedicated topic.
I’m not seeing any such issue here. Whatever the cause, it’s likely limited to your machine.
Perhaps try clearing caches, changing themes, or creating a new user account for diagnostic purposes.
I’m sure someone will help when they are able.
Regards.

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:
Update Announcements
The Update Announcements contain important information and a Known Issues and Solutions section that should generally be checked before posting a request for support.
System Information
While information from *-fetch
type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly;
Output of the inxi
command with appropriate parameters will achieve this (naturally, formatted according to forum guidelines) and will generally be more useful for those wishing to help:
inxi --filter --verbosity=8
or the short form:
inxi -zv8
- inxi man pages (Arch Manual)
Be prepared to provide output from other commands whenever asked. It’s equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Those are apparently not the default icon set, which means you must have installed a third-party icon set instead. So far so good, but some of those are incorrectly put together.
As a tentative attempt at fixing things, I would recommend logging out of Plasma completely — you have to be looking at the login screen — and then logging in at a tty
, and deleting the contents of your ~/.cache
directory.
After that, for good measure, reboot, and check whether the problem persists. If it does, I would suggest switching to the default Breeze icon set, logging out again, and repeating the procedure as explained above.
Note: A problem with symbolic icons in dolphin
has been reported to KDE upstream, and has in the meantime been fixed, but this will probably only reach Manjaro with the next Plasma update.
I do not have this type of folder in my setup.
The only thing is that KDE Dolphin is taking documents it finds in that folder and display it as a thumb on the folder icon whenver it recognizes it as a file type which it can display.
Put some images in a folder and you will get up to four thumbs on the folder icon
This is my documents folder. For two folders Dolphin is able to show thumbs of the content.
Looking on your screenshot it appears to me that this is exactly the case.
As I’m sure with most others who have tried these sorta OS in the past and value their sanity, I generally don’t dare to touch anything about UI etc other than just “setting a default dark theme” once maybe. As we can see stuff regularly breaks just fine on its own here so… nah, not in the near 1000 years at this rate
Also yep, already tried most of that. Well, I hope there’s a fix for this sometime
Nah. There’s a mix of icons of two different types here, the green ones and the b/w ones. Originally on my system it was all green ones. It seems to only happen around this specific icon zoom level in dolphin, they are still all green if I increase the zoom, but I don’t like big icons in that sort of mode
Me neither. Icons look fine in Dolphin on my machine. I’m guessing local issue, especially until we get more actual information to work from.
