I’ve just updated and my screen is really washed out and pale. I went to adjust the Gamma as I’ve done before, but there’s now no gamma setting in settings manager. Where has it gone to?
And where did your system info go? Please read the tutorials for how to post and how to provide system info. You are supposed to help us help you here.
I read the guide here [HowTo] Request support which says
Provide your system information, whenever relevant or when in doubt.
(my highlighting)
A gamma correction tab used to exist in the settings manager. It now doesn’t. I just thought it had moved and someone might be kind enough to point me in the direction of where it now resides.
I didn’t think system information was relevant to that request, and I wasn’t particularly in doubt.
If you mean for all posts to add system information in all cases, perhaps clarify that in the guides?
Different desktop environments may have different settings available. You could at least say if you are using Plasma, Gnome, or whatever.
Also, the graphics device you use may be relevant, since it may have other controls - I have no idea but does not seem impossible. Posting all the system information is likely to lead more quickly to a more useful answer.
Indeed, which oversight impugns my knowledge - which I don’t mind.
As opposed to “And where did your system info go? Please read the tutorials”, which impugns my manners - which I do mind.
I’ll thank you both for your time and find some help elsewhere.

It is important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem. Please also be prepared to provide output from commands if/when asked.
Simply waiting for others to ask you questions is counter-productive – typically, nobody has a
at their disposal – and your clear, concise and accurate input is often relied upon in order to help you.
Please help others to make informed suggestions based on information you provide.
System Information
While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; ![]()
Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:
Suggested inxi command (use either):
inxi -zv8 |
(short-form) |
inxi --filter --verbosity=8 |
(long-form) |
inxi man pages |
(manual) |
Running `inxi` within a `chroot` environment
- Add
--color=0to the long-form command, or… - Change the short-form command to
inxi -zv8c0

Missing gamma settings under "Display and monitor" - #3 by lloyd190
I found out that Gamma is not available for me on Wayland but it is on x11
Given we would also know which desktop you are using, if you had posted said data.
Both is Relevent and in Doubt apply.
