When my PC resumes from sleep with Nvidia Driver a strange message appears on my screen

When I resume from sleep and move my mouse cursor to the top left of the screen which is the plasma desktop switcher, I get the message. Other than the message my desktop is just a black screen with a mouse cursor.

I am using the default Nvidia driver 590.48.01

Anyone know what this is?

Also, this is on the x11 plasma session that I had to install when the team removed my x session.

I have very little experience with Nvidia.

But I have read issues where Nvidia behaved strange when restoring from sleep.

I think there is a section about it on the Arch Linux wiki.

Most will apply to Manjaro one-to-one except for driver naming and provision.

The team didn’t remove your X11 session. That was an upstream decision by KDE, because of the bisection of the source code into a code tree for Wayland and a code tree for X11, with X11 support being phased out and scheduled for removal by the release of Plasma 6.8.

Nvidia’s own drivers are proprietary blobs, and nobody knows what they do except for the Nvidia developers themselves. I would therefore recommend switching to nouveau, which is a Free & Open Source driver built into the kernel itself.

Do you have a cat? :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

Lol no pets.

This message also only flashes for like 1/4 second. I had to film it and pause the video to be able to read it.

I will keep an eye on it after todays round of updates. Maybe it went away.
