When launching application with AMD dgpu system freezes

Whenever I launch an application with DRI_PRIME=1 <application_name>

For Example :

DRI_PRIME=1 steam

system freezes and have to force shutdown to get back to normal.

This happens only with kernels other than 5.4 LTS

For Example:

with kernel 5.13 and 5.10 LTS , the mentioned problem occurs.

The problem is not occurring with 5.4 LTS.

Previously the freeze problem occurred on 5.4 LTS too, but after switching to amdgpu driver the problem was rectified.

unfortunately the problem continued on other kernels except 5.4 LTS

Have you tried

prime-run steam

yet?

Sorry mam, but because of battery issues (like battery life is degrading very quickly) my new battery within 2 months lost 13% of it’s life. And battery backup duration also not enough for me beacause I have online class every day( about 3-4 hrs), but in linux my battery is sustaining for about 2 hrs or below sometimes.

I have tried tlp, tlpui, auto-cpufreq, powertop --auto-tune

But no use.

I also tried to use my laptop without battery, just plugged to ac and used it, but the area iam living has some power cut (black out) issues.

As I was using my laptop Without battery, during power cut my laptop suddenly shuts down, as time passed laptop starts giving wiered sounds.

So I switched to windows, because for me windows is gave battery backup about 4-5 hrs

Sorry sis, I switched to windows. I don’t have a choice.

If any good suggesion, I might switch back to my good pal manjaro.

Back to manjaro, I just can’t tolerate Windows It’s like:

me: Rightclick

windows 10: wait processing something in background

me:  ok I’ll wait

windows 10: something went wrong
