When I boot my computer, lots of apps open

Hi community!

Every time I boot my computer, lots of apps open. I’ve faced this problem for about more than 1 month and finally decided to report this (it’s not about just the latest update).

Apps that appear are Brave, Okular, System Settings, and a few system apps.

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.12.4-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

I forgot to mention that they aren’t in startup apps list.

You also forgot to include a

sudo inxi --verbosity=8 --filter

They are probably the apps you had open when shutting down.

Go to KDE System Settings. Find Session in the list on the left. Select the option to start with an empty session.

No I didn’t leave them open.

You could have inadvertently saved a session. Explicitly starting with an empty session, as ben75 suggested, would eliminate that possibility.

Here’s an example where you can save the current session. I use this frequently; I close programs I don’t want to auto-open next time then click this before shutting down.

(Where my mouse pointer is).

Another solution is to change your session settings:

System SettingsSessionDesktop SessionSession Restore:

Change “On login, launch apps that were open” to:

  • Start with an empty session

This will ensure that no apps open in a previous session will reopen at next login;

The only exception(s) being those you have specifically set to start at login via SessionsStartup.

The resolution was already highlighted by two Members.

Regards.
